We only stayed one night while taking part in the Tuscany trail, since we had to keep moving, but we were all struck by how beautiful the place and its surroundings were. One of us has already booked half of a summer family holiday here. I’ll try to come back on my next trip to Tuscany. The landlords were friendly and helpful, and the views were amazing. Nonna’s cake made breakfast delicious, and we took home a few liters of the property’s olive oil. I’ll be back when we run out at home 😃

We had the ground floor to ourselves because nobody was staying upstairs, and with no internet connection it was easy to just relax and enjoy the nature around us. The house sits apart from other homes among olive trees, in a very typical Toscana style. From the hilltop dining table, or while doing yoga on the grass, you can look down over the valley, across the surrounding hills, and out to the mountains on the horizon. The area around Castiglione d'Orcia was gorgeous in the second week of June, with all kinds of colors across the hills and valleys. We kept wanting to drive slowly and stop for photos. The kitchen is fairly basic, with the dishes needed for simple cooking. There’s a nice fireplace in the living room, though we didn’t use it with the temperature at 33 outside. The bathroom is spacious and had hot water the whole time. The bedroom was fine, but got warmer than expected after sunny days, so open windows were a good way to sleep in summer. Thanks to Zaira and Fabrizio. We didn’t speak Italian, and they didn’t speak English or German, but gestures and Google Translate made communication easy enough. Our stay at Bindozzino was just about perfect.

The top floor rooms aren’t all alike. One of the three has a big window with a lovely view and sunset, while the other two only have small windows facing the sides.

We even saw a roe deer twice while staying at this lovely, authentic place in the Italian countryside. There are olive groves right outside and a beautiful view.
