We loved the local butcher and the restaurant "I Lecci" that was recommended to us. The Val d'Orcia is even more beautiful than the photos, and riding e-bikes from Val d'Orcia E-bikes in Radicofani was a great way to explore. In mid-June, the local roads were essentially traffic-free, and we also rode unpaved tracks, including the Via Francigena from Canterbury to Rome. The swimming pool was spectacular. It’s shared, but we often had it to ourselves. We rented Casa di Pietro for mid-June, during a month-long trip around Italy, and this accommodation near the old papal palace in the Borgo Principale of Vivo d'Orcia was a real highlight. The English rose garden was in full bloom and full of butterflies. The beds were comfortable, the house cozy, and every room had a lovely view. The hamlet has a unique atmosphere, with its own church, and it was made all the more special by the quiet presence of family members and other visitors in nearby cottages. We can’t wait to return.

Beautiful, astonishing, and so quiet.
Rachel was incredibly helpful and quickly sorted out any problems, and Michela kept the house clean and in good shape. The only things I'd change are the Wi-Fi and maybe the refrigerator, which could be more modern. It took us a while to appreciate the setting. On arrival, we were disappointed that it wasn't the typical Tuscan hillside we had pictured. It sits on a mountain among imposing vegetation, and after dinner at a very good nearby restaurant, we even thought about finding somewhere else to stay. By morning, though, our view had changed. The house is in the grounds of an 11th-century palace, surrounded by chestnut, walnut, oak, cherry, and other trees. It's a stunning spot, just minutes from the Tuscan scenery we had imagined. Casa del'Ambaciatore matches the website description. Everything was in excellent condition and equipped down to the smallest detail, with all the comforts we could want. There was a basket of fruit and nuts, plus several vases of roses. On a chilly evening, we lit the stone fireplace in the beautifully decorated living room and had a lovely evening beneath the Cervini family's coat of arms. Vivo D'Orcia is close enough for a stroll, a visit to the village shop, or a snack in the shade of a cherry tree. It really is a special place, and one we'll remember.
I came across this place by chance and stopped. The landscape really appealed to me. I recommend a visit 👍💯💯💯💯
A lovely village that feels as if time has stood still.
