The dinner was delicious and breakfast was really nice. I was the only guest, but the hosts and staff were super friendly. They don’t speak much English, though I managed fine. The rifugio was clean, with hot water in the shower and two toilets attached to each room, which you can’t take for granted in a place like this. The views are amazing, and it’s about a 20-minute walk from San-Pellegrino in Alpe, a handy base if you’re hiking this part of the Grand Italian Trail (Sentiero Italia). I’d definitely come back if I got the chance.

We stopped for lunch, so I can’t say anything about the rooms. It’s so peaceful there, and the view from the rifuio is amazing. The food is homemade and what we ordered was delicious. The menu is simple, with two primi and two secondi to choose from. As the welcoming poster says, it’s a rifugio, not MasterChef. It’s 2.8 km from San Pellegrino, reachable on foot or by car, though the mountain road is covered in small rocks.
