Puerto Escondido

It’s wonderfully quiet here, and the sea stretching out from the property is stunning. Breakfast is made by Nonna, who is warm and genuine, and a real highlight. The B&B is lovely and peaceful, though a little tucked away, so getting to Castro’s center takes a bit of a walk. Still, it’s a great place to relax, and we’d happily recommend it.

That terrace view was a dream to wake up to each morning. We spent four nights at this friendly, quiet B&B, and the couple running it were kind and dependable. Since we’re not used to such sweet breakfasts, the woman went out of her way to make eggs and buy us cheese and cold cuts. So thoughtful. A supermarket is only a two-minute walk away, while Castro’s lovely port, with its restaurants, cafés, and bars, is about a ten-minute drive. A car really is needed to get around southern Italy, so we rented one. We had a very pleasant stay and would gladly recommend the place.

The mini suite was clean, nicely furnished, and had a lovely sea view, with lots of thoughtful little touches. There are a few things to fix: mold in the shower corners, a roughly refitted bathroom door frame, and no bathroom ventilation. The small window can let odors into the bedroom. I’d also give the courtyard more attention, since ants have taken it over and there are ways to deal with them. These issues are easy to overlook, but addressing them would make the room better. And the one thing I couldn’t ignore was finding a spider as big as a clock face in my towel.

Clean, pleasant room with excellent air conditioning. The shower needs some attention: the water temperature kept varying, and there wasn’t much shower gel or soap. Breakfast was decent. We only stayed one night, and I’d recommend the place without expecting anything major.
