La Casa di Alma

We booked three rooms in July and paid in advance for one night at the end of September, 2023. When we arrived, they had forgotten about our booking and had just one room left. Luckily, there were other BNBs nearby, and within an hour we were settled somewhere else. The parking space had a car blocking the entrance, so we were moved to another parking area. To 'apologize for the inconvenience,' they asked us to leave the room straight after breakfast. When I returned the parking key to the wrong person, instead of the flat attendant, I got a sarcastic comment at the Shabby and Luxurious La Casa di Alma.

The staff were gracious and sweet, and the breakfast was delicate and tasty. We had a marvelous time at La Casa di Alma last week and were completely satisfied. It's in a good spot near Piazza Martiri, between the harbor and train station, in a classic old house with thick walls. The air-conditioned rooms have a lovely, stylish interior that's ideal for couples, and the bed was fantastically comfortable. We're very grateful! :-)

The host was friendly, though we struggled with a language barrier. Breakfast was OK, especially if you like sweet things. The room felt damp and dirty, as another reviewer had said, and the balcony seemed completely pointless. The bed creaked badly. We had a four-poster, but the room was too small to access it from both sides, so if you needed the toilet in the middle of the night, you'd have to climb over your partner. Getting into the room felt like breaking into a bank: there were up to four gates or doors, including one opened by a remote fob that randomly stopped working. 'Luxury' only seems to be in the name. I'm surprised this place gets such good reviews.

The place was very nice, with thoughtful details in the furnishings and a central spot near the old town. The service was friendly and helpful whenever we needed it. Thanks, Mario, for making us feel so welcome.
