Palazzo Bellini

The location beside a wonderful park was a real plus, and the place looks great at first. But staying there had its limits, and it wasn’t worth the price given what we ran into. We got a room with a jacuzzi, but when we switched on the jets, brown bits of dirt came out all through the bath. It wouldn’t heat up and soon went ice cold; after that, even the shower had no hot water. If a jacuzzi is included and priced into the room, it needs to be clean and working. The beds also weren’t made after the first day, and the bathroom smelled of sewage. It’s fine for a few nights, but the problems made the price feel unjustified.

Check-in and checkout were easy, and we found street parking close by without trouble. The hotel is very central and well located. Breakfast came as a voucher for the cafe right next door, and it was absolutely brilliant!

The rooms were okay, as was the hotel, but the bed was too soft and the pillow so huge that it felt like my head was resting on Mount Everest. Breakfast was completely subpar. The voucher for a nearby restaurant covered just one baked item and one drink. It wasn’t a buffet, and there was no butter or jam. Anyone with allergies has very few choices. I don’t recommend it.

We spent two weekend nights here, and the rooms looked brand new, in excellent shape and well equipped. The hotel is very central. There’s also an outdoor balcony and a shared full kitchen with espresso and snacks available all day. I was amazed that the stay included breakfast at one of the city’s more popular branded cafes. We’d stay here again next time we’re in Catania.
