B&B Villa Bella

The cleaning lady was genuinely kind and helpful, and she’s the reason this gets two stars. Otherwise, I’d give it one. The place is fairly close to the city center, but things went downhill quickly. I’d specifically asked for an ensuite bathroom and was given an outside one instead, which I let slide. The next day, a woman walked in, locked herself in my bathroom without even saying hello, and used it as if it were hers. I’d tried locking it from the outside, but the lock didn’t work. The cleaning lady noticed what happened and took care of cleaning the bathroom. Thank you. There was drilling and hammering upstairs from 7:00 AM, with no warning. The shared fridge didn’t even have a bottle of water, and the room fridge was empty and broken. In the shared kitchen, wet plastic cups had clearly been used and put back. The first two were visibly damaged. The boiler didn’t work on the first day. They said someone would come fix it, but when it still wasn’t working the next day, I opened the boiler room myself and found the boiler switch was off. I definitely couldn’t have switched off the internal control, whatever the owner thought. At least we could finally wash. Keep your ratings, I’m done with this place.

The owner’s gracious manner and willingness to help made the stay feel welcoming. It’s a peaceful spot, and the atmosphere is refined. This felt like a real example of the hospitality Calabria is known for. I’d recommend it to anyone who cares about the personal side of a stay as much as the quality of the service.

We settled in comfortably right away, and the area was quiet. The room itself had a few issues: the bed made noise, the TV remote didn’t work, the bathroom felt too small, and there was no hairdryer. For the price, though, it was acceptable.

The house was lovely and well looked after, with a decent room and Wi-Fi that worked well. Getting around may be tricky without a car or bus, since it’s quite far outside the city. Breakfast wasn’t anything special.
