Hotel Cristallo

We only needed a few hours’ rest after picking up our injured child from a nearby training camp, before driving home to Switzerland. They gave us a reduced rate, and a lovely night receptionist brought out a fresh, warm breakfast to go at 3am. He also gave us extra bottled drinks for the road. The bed was very comfortable, and we left refreshed and ready for the drive. Couldn’t have asked for a better short stay. Thank you, Hotel Christolla!

The rooms were extremely small. Once we’d put our bags down, there was literally no room to walk. There wasn’t a chair or trash can, and just one power outlet, which wasn’t enough for two people with phones and laptops. Hard floors made every footstep in the corridors audible, and soundproofing wasn’t great. We visited in winter and it was cold throughout. The AC couldn’t warm the room, especially the bathroom. On the good side, the location is excellent, close to the sea, pedestrian areas, and lots of restaurants. The area seemed quiet and secure. Reception and breakfast staff were mostly OK, breakfast was good by Italian standards but nothing special, and parking was fairly secure and cheap at €6. The internet was fantastic, reaching 35-45 Mbps.

The staff were lovely, the hotel looks good, and breakfast was good too. Parking is a tiny area, but it’s more than enough. Rooms are big enough for an overnight stay, and having a small fridge in every room is a real plus. I’d definitely come back.

The location is perfect, and the rooms are spacious and clean. The staff deserve 10 stars for being so nice and helpful. I’d recommend having dinner at the hotel. I had an amazing four-course meal for €20.
