The rooms had comfortable beds and plenty of space for our belongings, but there was a lot of dust on the floor, so they could have been cleaner. The hotel is in an old family-owned castle, a little way from shops and restaurants, though still within walking distance. Breakfast was disappointing for the price. We had a choice of Italian for 10€ or American for 15€, and the portion we were given for our group of three was one yogurt, four slices of bread, a little honey and jam, and some sweets. We later realized that plate was meant for all three of us. We also couldn't communicate in English because nobody understood us, which led to several unpleasant situations. The building is locked at 11 PM and opened again at 7 AM. If you go out, you can end up locked inside with the alarm armed and unable to open the doors. Not a great experience.

We had such a lovely time in Malpaga, and the food is something we won't forget. Every dish the chef made for us during our stay was superb, the kind of quality you'd expect at a much more expensive restaurant. The wine list was just as good. Service was quick and warm, with a pleasantly amateur touch that made the whole experience even nicer.
