Bohémien Boutique Guesthouse

The Bohémien was our best accommodation and best value of the four towns we stayed in around Sicily. The room and bathroom were extremely comfortable and high end, clearly recently refurbished. It was perfectly placed near the old town without the noise, and an easy walk to both the station and beach. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the tea and coffee station was a nice touch. Breakfast at the bar was excellent, with great food and service, probably our favorite in Sicily. Thanks to Mari and Stefanie.

Modern interior and a pretty good location, plus complimentary coffee. The rooms have no heating, so winter visits could feel chilly. The walls between rooms are disturbingly thin, which could be rough if you're a sensitive sleeper. Breakfast is at a nearby cafeteria, where the staff are really helpful and friendly. It's just a croissant and coffee. They managed to find me a gluten-free croissant, though I don't know if they have one every time.

The bathroom interior caught my eye when I chose this B&B, but there was a lot more to like. We arrived in Palermo late and could still check in, since check-in is available from 2 pm onward at any time. There are great local restaurants right nearby, and a quaint sandy beach just a few minutes away. Breakfast comes from a nearby cafe, with a choice of continental or Italian, and the cappuccino was so good. Our room had a lovely bathroom with a huge lighted mirror and a rainfall shower plus a separate hose. The shower screen could be longer, since water gets onto the floor easily, though the floor was dry again the next day. The B&B is on the first floor of an older building, so you have to climb several flights of stairs and there's no lift. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to stay near the local eateries and beach.

We booked every room at Bohemien for our group's five days in Cefalu, and it was perfect from start to finish. The guesthouse was the cleanest and freshest I've ever stayed in, with incredible attention to detail in every room. We could come and go whenever we liked, even late at night, and the coffee bar at reception was a lovely touch. Breakfast was included and served at a cute cafe a few doors away. It was delicious. Our rooms were cleaned spotlessly every day, and the location was ideal, just steps from what I think is the nicest piazza for an aperol spritz in the Sicilian sun. If there were more than 10 stars, I'd give them.
