The bathroom shower was broken, and there was black mold around the door and between the tiles. The room itself smelled stuffy, and the heat was blasting even though it was 18 degrees outside. We switched off every radiator, but it took hours to cool down. We were sweating all night with the balcony door open, the ceiling fan on, and our tops off. The fan squeaked whenever it moved, keeping us awake, so we barely slept and were deeply uncomfortable. The place is badly outdated and needs a serious refresh. We chose it because it was cheap and only needed one night, but should have paid more for somewhere else. Breakfast was stale, old, and very poor. If all you need is a place to sleep, you could stay here, but for a little extra I'm sure you can find somewhere more comfortable. Sorry to be so negative, but it feels like they want to keep running the business without putting in any extra effort. What a shame.

We head home tomorrow, our second-to-last day, but we're already thinking about coming back to Cervia. I'd happily book the same hotel again. The rooms are old-fashioned, so I can't give them a higher score, but they're spacious and comfortable, and probably why the price is so affordable. Service and cleanliness deserve far more than five stars. The rooms are cleaned daily, and the linens are changed when needed. The staff are friendly and helpful 💚. The bathroom is the one letdown, with no shower tray, though you get used to it 🤣. The location is perfect. Our big balcony had a table and chairs, and the sea view was spectacular, just right for coffee or a bottle of wine. Next time I'd love to have room number 50 again. The bathrooms are already across the street, which is very convenient. We chose CerviAmare (another review for her). Breakfast wasn't at the hotel but at the one next door. I don't know whether that's always the setup. We were a little disappointed at first, but the sweet and savory food was varied, fresh, and delicious, and soon won us over. I highly recommend Hotel Genzianella! 💙
