Hotel Edelweiss

The rooms were spacious, clean, and perfectly fine, and the women working at the hotel were lovely, kind, and very helpful. Unfortunately, the owner or manager and the receptionist made us feel unwelcome. Asking for directions around the area seemed to irritate them, and the general attitude didn’t make us want to stay again. We’d paid for breakfast but had to leave less than half an hour before it began. They wouldn’t even give us fruit or water to take with us. A very disappointing experience.

The location is good, and their cute dog was a bright spot, but Olga at reception made the whole stay miserable for us. When my dad reached for an apple from the bowl by the desk, she stopped him and rubbed her fingers together to signal that he had to pay. About 20 minutes later, we saw another guest being given an apple for free. We were three people in the room and received just one bottle of shampoo and bath gel on the first day. It ran out, and after the room was cleaned the next day there was no soap. When we asked Olga for another bottle, she said, “It is expected that our guests buy their own soap after the first day.” After we reacted, they gave us more, and the cleaner also left some the following day. So I’m not sure why she said that. We also couldn’t lock our room. Staff said they would fix the lock, but it still didn’t work after two attempts, and they didn’t seem to care. Noise carried across the whole floor. I could hear the next room’s toilet flushing right beside my bed. The Wi-Fi only worked in the lobby. Breakfast was plain: the omelette came out cold from the fridge, the cheese was bad, and there was only one kind of bread. On two mornings our reserved table was dirty when we arrived. The breakfast room also serves dinner, and it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned from the evening before. The receptionist was awful to me and my family. Our visit was horrible.

The rooms and the hotel were clean and comfortable. We were welcomed warmly by the very kind owners, and the food was good. A beautiful place.
