Hotel Beau Soleil

I've been coming for many years and plan to keep returning. This is one of Italy's best value bike hotels, tucked at the end of a quiet road beside a lovely pine forest that runs down to the beach. It works really well for cycling or an activity holiday. The owners are lovely and do what they can to help, along with their excellent staff. Cesenatico by the canal is beautiful, and there's plenty to see in the region. The area is superb for cycling, with just a short warm-up ride before you reach fabulous countryside. The evening meal is especially good value: a great salad buffet, pasta cooked in front of you, homemade soups, excellent mains with tasty meat and fish, and a wide choice of nicely cooked vegetables. There's also a top-quality, full-size swimming pool, ideal for triathlon training or relaxing. Bike storage is very secure and monitored by CCTV. There's an air compressor for tyres and a good workbench and stand. Bring your own tools, though the owner can point you to excellent local bike shops. Rooms are simple but exceptionally clean, with nice bathrooms, good showers, a flat-screen TV, and plenty of storage. The walls are thin, as some people have mentioned, but most guests are active during the day and it gets quiet at night. The Wi-Fi has recently been upgraded and is fast and reliable throughout. Rooms have balconies, and some offer fabulous views of the fir trees and sea. The hotel is exceptional value, and I hope to return for many years.

The food, friendly staff, 25 m pool for swim training, location, and bike facilities are all spot on. The rooms feel a bit 1990s and the beds squeak, but everything is neat and clean. Ideal for an off-season sports stay. I don't think I'd last a day in this area during peak season. This is my fifth visit now.

The pool and breakfast were good, and the location worked well. But the room was tiny, with paper-thin walls right by the elevator. Both mornings, people starting their day woke me at 6:30. When I mentioned it at checkout, the owner basically said it counted as a room because it had a bed and a toilet. Bring earplugs.

A great place for the money, especially if you're an everyday athlete, whether cycling, swimming or doing triathlon. The outdoor pool is excellent, and there's a small private beach nearby. Rooms are simple but have what you need, including air conditioning. The buffet meals are generous and really good.
