Kristalex Pet Friends Hotel

We had such a relaxing stay and came away with wonderful friends, especially Laura and her roommate from Lainate. The hotel is close to the sea, about a 3-minute walk, and the center is around 10 minutes away. Breakfast was hugely plentiful, with everything you could want. The food was excellent, both in quality and quantity. Chef Marco and all the staff, including Anda and Lorenzo, were fantastic. Anda, the restaurant manager, was especially kind and always around, and the reception team were lovely, available, and very helpful with planning trips. Cristina and the staff kept everything exceptionally clean. We were there with our furry friend, and it was a great place for that. We’re very grateful to everyone and will definitely come back. The staff were friendly and happy to help with information or requests, and we were pleasantly surprised by the terrace, which everyone can use at any time. We also tried the jacuzzi. Hiring a bike with a deposit came in handy, especially in the evenings, and the hotel is close to both the beach and shops. Breakfast and dinner were a hit for us: varied, tasty food, with lots of sweet and savory options at breakfast. Dinner always had three first courses and three second courses, plus alternatives on request if the daily menu didn’t suit, and there was a good range of vegetables. We stayed for a week and didn’t bring dogs. Our group had both rooms for three and rooms for four. The four-person rooms felt cramped compared with the triple rooms, and the areas above the furniture and under the beds weren’t very clean. We had to store suitcases under the beds and found the dust unpleasant. On the plus side, all rooms had working air conditioning, some had mini-fridges, and the beds were comfortable and clean.

We were happy with the stay, even though a hotel by the sea with one or more dogs can be tricky. It’s set up for furry companions and is about 200 meters from the beach. The young staff were on hand for questions. The rooms were clean and had air conditioning. Breakfast was generous and good, though the vending machine coffee could be better. Dinner was excellent: a big spread of appetizers and vegetables, three first courses and three second courses to choose from, then dessert and fruit. Water, soft drinks, wine, and beer were included.

The sea is close, and that was the good part of the location. We had planned a weekend away for my husband’s birthday, but left after only an hour because the room and the way our complaint was handled left us unhappy. After checking in, we found dust clumps under the bed and asked reception for the deep clean that clearly hadn’t been done before we arrived. We sat outside, and ten minutes later someone called to say the room was ready. It had been wiped over, but not properly. I ran my fingers over the floor and picked up a little of the dust and hair by the head of the bed, between the floor and wall, and took it to reception to show them. Even then, the receptionist kept saying the hotel’s cleanliness had always been impeccable. Maybe we have different standards, but a thorough clean can’t be done that quickly, and we shouldn’t have found it like that after asking. There was old dust in the toilet grout, the bench cushion for our suitcases was covered in hair, and the old wardrobes had marks that looked as if they hadn’t been cleaned in a while. That last point wasn’t a big issue on its own, but added to the rest. With two dogs and my asthma, we couldn’t accept a room in that condition. They asked a third time whether they could fix things, but we felt cheated and cancelled the stay. I’ve never had such an uncomfortable experience. I can only comment on cleanliness since we didn’t try the other services, and that was enough for us. I told the staff I was sorry, but I really dislike feeling taken for a ride. They could have sorted it after we first asked.
