B&B La Maison De Grand Maman

Everything was very clean and the service from Massimiliano was excellent. The house and room are perfect, with traditional handmade touches throughout. Breakfast was excellent too, especially the fresh focaccia Massimiliano prepared.

The village has a restaurant, a bar, and a small supermarket with everything you need. There are also beautiful hikes nearby that are easy to reach. My boyfriend and I stayed at Massimiliano’s B&B for three days in May and really enjoyed it. The wooden chalet is charming and very carefully maintained, with impressive attention to detail, cleanliness, and hospitality. Every morning, Massimiliano made us a really delicious homemade breakfast. It was such a pleasant find.

The mattresses could do with replacing, but the cats wandering around the house are very sweet and love a bit of fuss 😻. The kitchen has everything you need, and the friendly host, Massimiliano, makes a delicious breakfast. The house itself is beautiful and unusual, with lots of woodwork, spacious rooms, a lovely terrace, and a garden. You can set out on lovely walks right from the house or explore nearby Mont Avic Natural Park. Champorcher Valley is very quiet, with little entertainment and small, semi-deserted villages, so it suits people who enjoy peace and beautiful nature. Pontboset nearby is lovely too, with several nice walks starting there. There are also some beautiful castles close by, including Forte di Bard and Issogne Castle.

Massimiliano and his parents are wonderful, easygoing, discreet people. You feel their presence right away, but they’re gentle, never intrusive, and always there for anything from local tips to the little needs that come up. Staying at the splendid "Maison de Grand Maman" gave me an immense sense of pleasure and satisfaction. I’ve traveled a lot and visited 17 countries so far, but I can’t remember another stay that made such a positive impression. The place is beautiful, and Massimiliano’s home feels like a trip back in time. It has been renovated with a strong focus on sustainability while keeping its traditions: stone throughout, and warm, fragrant wooden interiors handcrafted by the owner. Everything is thoughtfully prepared down to the details. The memory foam mattresses were incredibly comfortable, even the one in the crib for the littlest ones. The linens were beautifully finished, and the bedrooms and bathrooms had lovely, high-quality fittings. The kitchen had everything we could need, from a microwave and espresso machine to lovely dishes and a state-of-the-art electric oven. There was plenty of food provided too, mostly organic. Each bathroom had shampoos, soaps, and creams made by a local organic farm. Massimiliano also places essential oils in small wooden containers throughout the rooms and bathrooms, so those scents greet you as well. It was a very positive, restorative welcome in a unique, fairytale-like setting, ideal for anyone after a truly human-scale holiday that follows the natural rhythms of life we’re often deprived of today.
