La Piccola Locanda

Our one-night stay was a terrible experience. There was a dead bug in a drawer, and the room smelled of sewer all night. The bathroom was dirty, the showerhead was moldy, and the tub glass was grimy. The room window had no curtain and there was a hole in the wall.

The rooms were filthy and practically unusable, and the bathrooms were unusable too. The windows were old, wouldn't open, and let drafts in everywhere. There were cobwebs all over the place. The building is badly maintained. Entering through the main door, there was a terrible smell, and the atrium was being used to store pellet fuel. The hall had been turned into a breakfast room with four jams and a boiler right overhead. Avoid this place completely.

We were happy with the restaurant, but our experience with the accommodation left me with a negative impression, contrary to the reviews we had trusted. We accepted the owner's offer of a room at the nearby ALBERGO CENTRALE, in the station square, room no. 23. When we arrived in the evening, we were handed a key with no escort or explanation of the room's limitations. There was no air conditioning, only a fan, and the room was shabby, in a 1950s style. The bathroom was perhaps three square meters in total, tucked into a corner, and both the shower and bidet worked poorly. I don't know what the other rooms are like, but we felt cheated, even though we were only passing through. At 98 euros including tourist tax, the price was decidedly high for the standard. The lesson is to always see the room before accepting.

The room was spacious and well kept, and breakfast was plentiful with a good variety. When we arrived, we also found a small room with a coffee and herbal tea machine and several bottles of water. Stefano and the staff were very helpful throughout our two-night stay at Piccola Locanda. It was convenient to eat downstairs at the guesthouse's restaurant/pizzeria, which serves high-quality artisanal products. Thanks so much for the attentive service, and thanks again to Stefano.
