Ciampino Hotel

The rooms and bathrooms were clean, and the staff were friendly. They also offered a shuttle to the airport. I stayed one night before an early flight, taking the metro from Termini station to Campino stop and walking to the hotel. It wasn't too far, even with luggage. The runway is right outside the room, but we couldn't hear the planes while we were asleep.

The staff were polite and professional, and the rooms were spacious. The hotel itself is old and very basic, with an old TV, and the decor doesn't look like the advertising pictures. It's close enough to the airport by taxi or car, though it isn't right around the corner.

You get what you pay for. The pool is refreshing after a hot journey, the staff are friendly, and the airport is close. But Ciampino airport is extremely busy, and this is a low-budget place. If you have a very early flight, skip the hotel shuttle, which starts at 5, and take a cab. Check that your room has air con too, because without it there's no air circulation and you'll suffocate. On the bright side, the pizzeria around the corner serves fantastic food, and King Arthur pub is super nice. Get something to eat and a bit drunk, and the stay will seem much better.

The room was nice and clean, but the walls are thin and there's so much noise around that it was almost impossible to sleep. The staff were polite and helpful. They offer an airport transfer for 5 Eur per person, cheaper than a taxi, with the first shuttle at 5 am. It takes around 10 minutes to reach the airport.
