Hotel Villa Giulia

There aren't any amenities or bottled water, though vending machines just outside may make up for that compared with the hotel prices. The rooms were below average, and the rates felt high, even if Rome is very expensive these days. The hotel is close to Ciampino Airport, with the red Ciampino Airlink bus costing 1,20 euros.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and sent plenty of useful information the day before we arrived. The hotel is in a residential part of Ciampino, set back from the road, with restaurants, bars, shops and cafes about 0.2 mi away. You can get a shared ride to Rome, walk 0.5 mi to the station, or use the hotel's partner taxi service at reasonable rates. Wi-Fi was a bit spotty. Our room was a good size and simply laid out, with a comfortable bed and a tiny portable fridge. There are double and family rooms, plus parking onsite. Breakfast is optional at €7 per person. The interiors are clean and neat, and the hotel feels quiet and modern. It's a 3 star hotel just across the airport runway. There are no coffee or tea supplies in the room.

We were looking for a place to stay overnight before our transfer, and Hotel Giulia worked well for that. It's very near Ciampino's center, where you can find what you need during a stay. The reception staff were polite and helpful, and the woman in the breakfast room was lovely too. She made us a couple of tasty coffees early in the morning. The hotel itself was clean and quiet, and the room was a decent size. We had the clastic room, which felt like a seaside hotel from years ago and could use an update. I noticed they also have modernized rooms that seem a bit more up to date in their furniture and amenities.

The front desk staff were helpful and nice, and the place is about 5 minutes from the airport, so staying overnight before a flight was easy. Cleanliness could have been better. There was an older couple drinking beer and smoking at the table outside the front, and smoke kept coming inside the whole time. The smell was awful.
