Albergo Ollolai

For $68, we got a spotless, very nice room with A.C., a TV, and a queen-size bed, plus warm and friendly service. I mistakenly told the staff we’d prepaid when we hadn’t, and they listened kindly while I sorted that out. It’s five minutes from the port we were cruising from. My five-star rating is based on the value for the cost. I’d recommend it, especially for anyone cruising from Civitavecchia.

The room and bathroom were tidy and very clean, and this is a good-value budget place close to the cruise ships. The railway station is only 2 kilometres away, but taxis aren’t easy to get for that trip. One driver quoted me 40 €. There’s no shared area or tea and coffee making facilities.

We only needed the room for one night, and it was small but clean and comfortable. The hosts were friendly, the hotel is old, and it’s within walking distance of the centre and amenities. There’s free WiFi. We couldn’t get a taxi, so they gave us a reliable taxi number. There’s no elevator, and we weren’t prepared to carry our luggage up the stairs. The hosts kindly let us leave it in the reception area. The shower temperature kept swinging between scalding and freezing, with no comfortable middle setting. After a day in the sun, we needed a shower, but it was a problem.

I stayed here for a night on my way to San Teodoro and had a really enjoyable time. The woman at the counter was lovely and welcoming. She patiently pointed me toward good places for food and drinks, and some nightlife too. The rooms were clean and very well kept. I’m already dreaming about coming back.
