I wouldn’t recommend this place. The accommodation is basic, cleanliness was poor, and there was hair from a previous guest on the sheets. The listing didn’t accurately describe it. There’s an odd shared living area for guests, but it had no useful things like cutlery, so I couldn’t see the point of it. There was no way to add a cot, which made it unsuitable for families. The owners kept pressuring us to use an online “fast” check-in through an unfamiliar platform that asked us to scan and upload our passports and IDs. We were already travelling and didn’t feel comfortable doing that, so we wanted to check in manually at the guesthouse. It seemed this step was just for paying a small city tax, and I don’t understand why we were hassled about paying it before being given entry instructions. They could have explained it beforehand and offered manual check-in as an option. If it was compulsory, they could have had us do it before we started travelling, when we had better and more secure Wi-Fi. Also, there are no published check-in hours, but we were still told we’d arrived outside them, even though we got there before 6 pm.

The one real advantage is how close it is to the cruise port. The street and building were horrible, and the shared kitchen and living area with another guest room felt strange and wasn’t advertised, so there wasn’t much privacy. After a long journey, the owner or manager kept chasing us to pay the 6 euro city tax before giving us check-in instructions. We couldn’t pay without Wi-Fi and needed to check in first. Eventually they let us in. They also sent a strange pre-check-in link and asked us to scan our passports, so they wouldn’t need to meet us in person. That didn’t feel secure or professional. DO NOT STAY HERE. Read the owner’s reply below to see the kind of attitude you’ll get. We arrived during the day and well within check-in hours. They’re making false statements to protect a poor-quality business.

The room was very nice, and the building has loads of character. The façade needs work, so I wouldn’t dance on the balconies, but the architecture is super cool and curvy.

It was really hard to find, and I couldn’t get into the room I’d booked. I’d reserved two beds, but the key didn’t work. I got no response from Booking.com or the hotel. Don’t book here.
