We found a peaceful stretch of Lake Lugano with no tourists around apart from us, plenty of parking by the shore, and lovely mountain and building views. The server was cheerful and patient with our limited Italian, and suggested an apricot jam croissant. It was still warm and really tasty. Two espressos and the croissant came to just £3, and parking cost nothing. The cobbled streets and narrow doorways could be tricky, though sitting outside is wheelchair accessible.
