The host was very helpful with dinner bookings and other suggestions, and the hotel has elegant furnishings and decorations. The view of the lake is beautiful. Our room felt a little small for stretching exercises, though it’s an easy walk into Colico. There are good hiking trails nearby. Veranna is about a 20-minute drive away, with ferries to Bellagio, though both places were mobbed and parking was impossible on Easter Saturday.

Francesca made us feel as if we were staying at a friend’s home. She was so hospitable, and I really enjoyed chatting with her. She also booked us a table at Sci D’Oro down the street, where we had the best dinner of our whole vacation. The property is immaculate. The rooms are small but cozy, with comfortable beds and everything we needed. Its setting above the lake and mountains is gorgeous, and I believe every room has a balcony view. It suited us perfectly: quieter than other parts of Como, while still close enough to visit other towns. Varenna is a 20-minute drive and a central ferry stop for getting around. We’re just wrapping up our stay at Villa Margherita, and I’m already hoping to return. We knew it would be beautiful, but didn’t expect everything to be this good.

We only stayed three nights, which is a shame because this might be the best place we’ve stayed. The room was clean and nice, with a big bathroom and a really comfortable bed. The view of the mountains and lake from the bedroom was amazing. Francesca was a wonderful host, and West is a lovely dog. Breakfast was eco-friendly, with Francesca and her mother using local groceries. Francesca also bakes a lovely cake. We’ll definitely come back!

We rented four of the five rooms for our family and were very pleased. Each room had its own bathroom and balcony, with views of the mountains and lake. Francesca was a wonderful host who made sure everything was taken care of, from breakfast and the small toiletries to coffee, tea, sugar, and fresh fruit in the rooms. Drinks were available to buy too, including beer, wine, soda, water, and spirits. We planned a quiet trip and enjoyed Colico without a car, though some guests may want one. The walk from the train station takes about 20 minutes with luggage, or 15 without. There are restaurants, bakeries, grocery stores, and shops nearby. Colico is only a few train stops from other Lake Como towns, and Varenna is convenient for catching the ferry to Bellagio.
