The place has lovely buildings and a charming setting, and the main house has been restored well. The stone houses and chapel add to its appeal. There’s clearly a lot of potential here, but the upkeep during our stay was disappointing. The pool loungers were plastic, with many broken or in very poor shape, and some of the scattered ashtrays looked like they hadn’t been cleaned for a while. In the main lounge, more than ten sofas had old, dirty covers, which made the room feel like an abandoned foster home. The barbecue equipment was so old and oxidized that we couldn’t use it. The tennis court was overgrown and neglected, and a table that may have been for table tennis was nearly ruined. Even our arrival felt unwelcoming: housekeepers were throwing bed sheets from a first-floor window straight onto the street. The decor across the property was a letdown too, dominated by old plastic furniture like you might find in a coffee shop. With updated furnishings, better cleaning, and more attention to detail, Villa Torre degli Onesti could be a stunning stay.
