La Piana Dei Mulini

Michele, the owner, made our stay feel like home. We loved seeing his warm, kind face at breakfast each morning. We came to the area because my grandfather was originally from nearby Baranello, and the quiet property felt true to its roots while still having modern comforts in the rooms. The restaurant was incredible too, especially the pasta. It was our best meal in Italy. My girlfriend and I had an incredible stay, and we’ll be back!

We stayed at the country villa, about a kilometer from the main facility. It was acceptable and well furnished, though there’s no air-conditioning. This is my grandfather’s town. At the restaurant, the service was excellent, but I wasn’t impressed by the grilled steak. Someone in our family had the ragu pasta, which looked and tasted much better. The local Molise wine, I think it was Tintilia, was first rate.

The location is nice, but the service and kindness were zero when I stopped in today for a beer. The owner seemed lazy, tired, and bothered when I asked for one. I also asked a blond waiter whether I could visit the mill because I need to get married next year. She was rude and seemed suspicious about my request. I want to tell the owner he’s lost a wedding for next year. Customer service is the key to success!

The scenery was lovely, and the staff were fabulous. The food was excellent, the local wine delicious, and the rooms were the cleanest I’ve ever stayed in. 10/10, I’ll be back to enjoy it for longer than one night!
