It’s such a peaceful place to unwind, and the main spots are easy to get to.

Everything you need for a quiet break is here, tucked away in a lovely Tuscan hamlet. The apartment has a washing machine, an Italian coffee maker and a kettle. It’s a charming place, with Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra and other attractions nearby.

It’s a handy base for nearby villages and Siena, though Pisa takes us an hour and a half to reach. For shopping, we found the large Coop supermarket in Colle di Val d'Elsa best. The apartment is on the ground floor of a large property, with plenty of shade that was especially welcome in August. The kitchen is huge and has room to eat. The back bedroom smelled a little musty, and we were surprised the dishwasher and washing machine worked. There was no coffee-making equipment. We had to leave by 10 a.m. at the latest and return the apartment in exactly the condition we found it. There’s a church on the grounds, but it was closed, and other people live on the property too.

A real taste of Tuscany, with lots of space, cleanliness and a great location. Just perfect, really.
