The staff were extremely friendly, and the hotel even has bike storage and a pump. My bedroom was very large, nicely decorated, and had a view. It’s in a charming little village, and I’d highly recommend staying here.

We arrived on foot in the early afternoon, soaked after a four hour trek from San Gimignano. Our room wasn’t quite ready, but the owners kindly told us our luggage had arrived, then invited us to have refreshments downstairs and wait in the garden while they finished cleaning. The room was lovely once we got in, large, clean, and cool. We did wish the sink were separate from the bedroom, though we understand that moving walls in an old palace isn’t easy. The hotel arranged dinner for us at Portanova Hosteria Enoteca, right at the top of the city gate, as soon as it opened at 7 pm. Dinner and breakfast the next morning were both excellent. One of the staff was working hard in the kitchen to make sure everyone had plenty to eat and drink. We’d gladly stay here again.

The breakfast spread was phenomenal, and the team made omelettes to order. There’s also a lovely outdoor seating area that stays open all day, handy if you need to get some work done. The hotel is run by a lovely couple who’ve put so much care into it. Its location makes it easy to explore the surrounding Tuscan towns, while still giving you a quiet, central place to return to. Thanks for such a fantastic stay. We’ll definitely be back.

Our room really was a room with a view, with the Tuscan hills right outside. It had a modern bathroom, and the white linen and towels were lovely. The service was perfect each day, and breakfast on the terrace had everything we needed before hikes and tours. What a romantic hotel in a sweet town. We’d visited Colle Alto before and were glad it was still quiet and not overly touristy. We can only recommend both the hotel and the town.
