Villa Verecondi Scortecci

We paid quite a lot to rent the whole house for a wedding, but the owner wouldn’t let us do much, which was really sad. Some rooms also had broken AC, and with it reaching 38 degrees at night, sleeping was impossible. The location itself was beautiful.

The setting was beautiful, but the villa fell short for the price, especially with more than 30 of us having booked the whole place. Breakfast was a letdown: very little to choose from, nothing hot, and slow service. We were told checkout was at 3 PM, yet had to leave our rooms by 11 AM. The pool closed early, and the owner was very inflexible. Some rooms had no working AC or hot water. During our wedding celebration and party, the owner filmed us without permission. That was unacceptable and a violation of our privacy. Disappointing, wouldn’t recommend.

The website gives a very misleading picture of the property. Although the building and gardens are lovely, the place is badly run, and we paid top dollar for a stay that wasn’t worth it. Our room was dirty, and so was the apartment our cousin rented. There was dust and cobwebs everywhere, and nothing felt cared for. At breakfast, which cost €12 per person, we were very disappointed and felt it was a rip off. The pool was dirty too, with dead frogs floating in it. On top of that, the owners’ dogs barked and woke us and our small children in the night and very early one morning. One is a Great Dane, so you can imagine how loud it was. The owners showed an appalling lack of care and professionalism.

The owners gave us such a warm welcome, and the restored villa, garden and pool were all beautifully maintained. The position is the most exquisite I’ve ever seen. Floating in the oxygenated pool with a glass of bubbly and a view over the prosecco vineyards is a memory we’ll always keep. We even wish we’d married here! Thank you. We’ll definitely return with friends and family from the UK and US.
