Breakfast was fine, the women serving it were very kind, and the receptionist was friendly. The location also works well for walking into town. But everything else about our one-night stay at this hotel by Lake Como in September 2025 was unacceptable. In the days and hours before we arrived, we were contacted repeatedly and pressed to confirm we’d be on time because reception would otherwise close. After a long journey, we found this stressful. We checked in late afternoon after a long drive, just passing through before another long trip the next morning. Our ground-floor room smelled unbearably damp and musty. We were told to “just turn on the AC,” but it didn’t help, even after hours. Black mold was plainly visible on the ceilings and in the bathroom, and there were insects in the room. It felt like a backup room that shouldn’t have been rented out. We were exhausted and there was nobody at reception when we returned from dinner, so we didn’t complain that night. Still, the room was completely unacceptable and, in my opinion, a health risk. Sleeping under just a thin sheet felt like being in a wet basement. The pool didn’t look clean either. After leaving, I noticed my bracelet was missing. We contacted the hotel about an hour after we left, and they said they’d let us know if they found it, but we never heard back. Between the mold stench, insects, unhealthy conditions, and the high price, I honestly don’t understand how they can offer a room like this to guests.
