Palazzo San Gottardo Lake Como, a Radisson Collection

The lake view from the rooftop bar at Palazzo San Gottardo Lake Como was lovely, but the rest of my visit around 4:00 PM, right as it opened, was disappointing. We didn't order cocktails, so there were no aperitivo snacks for us. The two espresso macchiatos we ordered were undrinkable, and we sent them back. The music was loud and felt more like a nightclub than a relaxed rooftop at that hour. There was no elevator access for a baby trolley, and the bathroom had no changing table, even though other people there also had small children. For this kind of hotel, that isn't acceptable. The prices aren't justified by the quality. Great view, poor execution.

The hotel was very clean and in an excellent location. The concierge was outstanding and very helpful throughout my stay. The room key cards kept failing, though, and sometimes the elevator was out of service. It was frustrating to finally get up to my floor and discover the card had stopped working, then have to go all the way back to reception to get it reactivated. This happened twice. Once, I was told the key had been extended for the rest of my stay, but it turned out to be active for just one more day. I hope management fixes this, since it needlessly affects guests' comfort despite the hotel's many good points.

We live locally and like stopping for coffee at the Caffè Lariano when we're in the city. The staff are always genuine. Yesterday an older gentleman, around my own age, was especially friendly. That real warmth from the hotel staff is what makes the experience stand out.

A new hotel with lovely rooms, a spa, and a great breakfast. The service is very helpful and they try to take care of every request. I'd happily come back.
