Vintage Home Como Lake

There were three bedrooms: two with queen beds and one with two twin beds that didn't line up evenly when pushed together. The kitchen had a stove, oven, fridge with a small freezer, a small washer, and basic cooking supplies. There was nowhere to hang clothes to dry, and the AC never came on during our stay. The house folder said it could be controlled remotely if the hosts thought guests were overusing it, but we couldn't get it working at all. We opened the windows instead. Luckily it was early June, not too hot yet, and the rain helped keep things cool. We were a group of seven, and the apartment was on the third floor. The tiny lift could fit one person with a midsize stroller, or one person squeezed in with two large suitcases. Otherwise, expect to carry everything up three flights. We did. We didn't see or hear any other tenants in the building. The host met us around the corner to show us the room and hand over two sets of keys and a folder with house rules and information. They also photographed everyone's passports. Just before leaving, the host told us there was a €72 city tax to pay in cash. It hadn't been disclosed on Airbnb, so we wondered why it wasn't charged there. It felt suspicious, but since we were already there, we felt stuck. The location was okay for getting around Como, though the train station was a 15-minute walk away, which was a hassle with luggage. Outside, it stayed noisy until 1 or 2 a.m. every night. The curtains barely blocked any light, with no blackout curtains, so if you're sensitive to noise or light, expect early mornings and late nights. I gave it three stars because it had the things you'd need, but that was about it.
