Villa Rosi

I came across this place on Booking while visiting Collio and Adria, then got in touch directly. The room for me and my child had its own bathroom, and the price felt very fair for the size and quality. Parking right outside was included. We didn't mind that it was on the first floor with no elevator. We'll stay here again on our next trip to Italy.

A creepy place to stay. The owner is really creepy and a total cheat. That said, I think his wife and son are probably okay. With the restaurant next door bankrupt, this wasn't remotely worth EUR 64 a night.

The room was absolutely quiet, and there’s indoor parking. I liked the old-fashioned feel, and it had air conditioning, a nice bathroom with a big shower, and a shared kitchen with everything you need. The bed looks vintage, but its base and mattress aren’t, and they were very comfortable for my back. There were pastries and tart-like cakes in the room for breakfast.

A stay here is an experience in itself. The hostess is very friendly, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The house dates from 1880 and seems to have been kept just as it was built, with objects from all sorts of eras inside. There’s a huge garden, big enough for 100 motorcycles or even a freight train. No elevator, though apparently a motorcycle could fit sideways up the stairs. I think Dracula stayed here. A great café nearby does breakfast, and the terrace at the very top has panoramic views of the area. The building also served as a hospital during World War I. 100% recommended.
