There always seems to be restoration or repair work somewhere in the piazza, which can take away from the experience a bit. Still, it's worth visiting, even with the crowds and touristy feel. Piazza Navona is one of Rome's most beautiful and lively squares. Its Baroque buildings and impressive fountains make it feel like an open-air museum. It's lovely to wander around or spend time at a cafe or restaurant, with street artists adding to the lively atmosphere.

I love spending time in Piazza Navona, with all the people, street artists and beautiful architecture. The square's long outline follows the shape of the ancient Stadium of Domitian, where athletic competitions took place nearly 2,000 years ago. It's a nice place to walk around, have a coffee and take in the atmosphere, surrounded by so many layers of Roman history.

You can take a seat at one of the many cafes or restaurants and enjoy the view, or just wander around the fountains. The old buildings around this open-air piazza give it a lovely Roman feel, and the atmosphere is something special. A great spot to slow down and people-watch.

Even after dark, the square has so much charm. It's a lovely place for a relaxed stroll, to watch street artists, or to sit at a cafe and soak up the lively atmosphere. The Baroque buildings and grand fountains are beautiful, and there's a sense of history and energy here throughout the day. A must-see in Rome.

It's a huge plaza with a fountain and some benches. It can get pretty hot, though. During the holiday season, the large open space means you can expect more shops.
