Hotel Berghang

Hotel Berghang felt like a hidden gem on our trip, and dinner was one of the best meals I had on the whole journey. The restaurant is Michelin-starred, and the owner-chef clearly puts so much passion into every dish. We stayed just one night and arrived in the evening, which felt far too short. During dinner, a wonderful staff member from Sri Lanka looked after us, which made the meal especially memorable. Every staff member we met was warm, friendly, and attentive. Make time to enjoy the restaurant if you can. The food was an absolute highlight, and I highly recommend staying here. Love from Korea ❤️. One more thing, the road is winding, so make sure to drive before it gets dark.

The location works well for intermediate hikers, with several trails nearby, and the picturesque village is a short walk away. The rooms could use updating, but ours was clean, well kept, and very spacious. The mattress was good, though not excellent. There was a fridge, air purifier, and shutters. Parking was a little confusing on arrival: coming from downhill, you need to drive past the hotel, then turn right for the 15-minute check-in and check-out spots. A small map with the confirmation email might help. There was no immediate heating or air conditioning in the room, though mobile units may be available on request. We didn’t need one, so can’t confirm. Service was faultless. Staff spoke either quite passable English or the basics, which was more than enough. They were attentive, anticipated what we might need, and were happy to help. We brought our dog, and without us asking, the chef cooked her some offcuts for dinner and someone brought a water bowl. The food was exquisite, with a menu that changes daily. The dishes were prepared with care and presented beautifully. At €45 for four courses, including appetizer, first course, second course, and dessert, it’s a steal without half-board, though drinks cost extra. The amenities exceeded expectations: two clean, well-maintained jacuzzis, a heated 30°C pool, lots of daybeds, poolside service, a spa, dry room, and relaxation room. I’ve read the bad reviews, and they seem to come down to miscommunication and expectations that weren’t managed. We’d definitely come back and recommend it.

The views were amazing, parking nearby was very convenient, and the room was spacious, with clean rooms, a renovated bathroom and toilet, friendly staff, and a full English breakfast that was more than enough. Still, we’re at the hotel now and it seems mostly empty. Our room feels very dated, with furniture that reminds us of an old hostel, and there’s a strange smell. When we asked reception if anything could be done, they offered an upgraded room for an extra charge, even though the hotel seems far from full. I’ve worked in hotels myself, and offering a free upgrade when the hotel is half empty is both common courtesy and smart hospitality. We paid close to €600 for just a few nights, so being asked to pay more for a room that better matches the booking photos doesn’t feel fair.

We’re already making plans to return next winter and see the Dolomites in a new light. Our first visit to the region was unforgettable, thanks to Hotel Berghang and its team. The room was spacious, comfortable, beautiful, and impeccably clean. Each morning we watched the sun rise over the mountain ranges through the glass door, a moment of real peace. Every interaction with the warm, polite, accommodating staff felt genuine. You can tell they take pride in their work, and there’s a strong sense of community that makes you feel welcome straight away. The hotel facilities were immaculately kept and ran smoothly, from the dining areas to the wellness amenities. Everything felt carefully considered. It’s a rare mix of luxurious and down to earth. We left rested and recharged, genuinely touched by the serenity and soul of the place. We’ve taken that peaceful feeling home to Australia and already told friends and family they should stay here when they visit. It’s more than a place to sleep, it’s an experience that stays with you.
