We booked one night, and it turned into a nightmare. My friend, who takes heart medication, got locked in the bathroom for 40 minutes. The staff had no way to get him out and had to call the fire department. While he was stuck, they were very nice, asking if we needed anything and saying a meal would be ready once he was out. It took 40-45 minutes, and we missed our bus to Rome. There were five of us, and we asked them to arrange new tickets or a taxi to Padua so we could catch the next train, since we had strict work plans the next day. Then their response changed: they said they could offer us another night only if we paid 100 euros, and the accommodation was a 2 km hike from the city center. We asked to sit there overnight and leave in the morning, without asking them to pay for the tickets, but they wouldn’t let us. We missed our appointments and connecting buses, and had to rebook both our night’s stay and tickets.

We left two nights early and drove to Sesto because the beds were much too hard for me. Some people may like a firm bed, but I don’t. Our room was extra large, with a balcony and a deep tub that was lovely for a bubble bath after a long day. Reception were friendly, and the hotel is right in central Cortina, within walking distance of lots of places.

We visited in October and found the hotel very nice, in a beautiful area. There was some mix-up with our reservation, but the staff were cooperative. Breakfast was decent and enjoyable. For the price we paid, we couldn’t ask for more, though I’m not sure what it costs in summer.

It was okay in the end, but well below what we expected for the price and location. Our room was clean, but had no Wi-Fi at all; when we asked to move, we were told the hotel was full. The shower water was warm rather than hot. Parking cost 15 euros a day at the hotel, or we could park for free a five-minute walk away.

The location was great, and the mountain view from the balcony was excellent. We stayed three nights in June. The room was a good size, clean, and had local character; it was also quiet thanks to good soundproofing, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was a small buffet, but one of the better ones I’ve had at hotels in Europe.
