Hotel Bellevue Suites & Spa

After my hike I spent time at the spa, where the staff were incredibly kind and helpful. They gave me slippers, towels and a robe, and made me feel like royalty. There’s a huge sauna, ice, a Mediterranean sauna at 40-50 Celsius, a steam bath, cold rain, a Kneipp shower, and a relaxing area with comfy chairs, tea and lemonade. Such a wonderful place. I followed my relaxing time with the best massage I’ve ever had. It’s truly worth a visit, and I recommend it. Thanks to the lovely staff for all their effort in making us feel comfortable and special.

The breakfast was nice, and the staff were friendly, but the room felt dated and lacked the comforts I’d expect. We paid 260 euro for a double room on the ground floor. We booked this hotel specifically for the spa because few hotels still had theirs open during COVID. In the spa, we found that only the sauna and showers were operating; everything else was closed due to COVID regulations. We only learned this once we were there. There had been many chances to tell us, on the website, in the booking confirmation email, on the phone, at reception when we reserved our spa time, or on the printout in our room, but there was no mention of the restrictions. The hotel’s excuse was that it was a government regulation. In my view, a four-star hotel should make sure guests know what services are available, or in this case, unavailable. The sales and marketing manager and, I think, the general manager weren’t helpful. They kept interrupting and repeating that the spa was free. For what they charge, you can find plenty of better hotels.

We had excellent lunch and dinner at the restaurant. The radicchio salad with apple, speck and salted nuts was big enough to share. We also loved the pizza with tartar, spicy anchovy pizza, which is great if you like heat and deep umami but not for kids, veal shank for two that could feed three or four, and whole roasted sea bass. Excellent food and friendly service. We tried four or five restaurants last week, and our friend said this was the best.

When a family emergency came up the day before I was due to return, the staff were disgustingly inconsiderate. They first asked me for a letter from the hospital intensive care room where my relative was hospitalized. I provided it, but they still refused to refund any of my three-night stay. I’d stayed here a couple of times and had even referred friends, but after this I’d never go back or recommend the place. Terrible management and inconsiderate staff.
