Dinner at Agriturismo I Pagliali was one of the best parts of our stay. There wasn’t a menu; they brought us four courses, with fresh cheeses and prosciutto, potato soufflé, pork roast with potatoes, and a lovely dessert. I started with Prosecco and had a very nice red wine with the meal. Breakfast was fresh and delicious too. We wandered around the grounds, and although the pool was closed for winter, it looked like a great place to relax and play in warmer weather. The hospitality and service were among the best we’ve had in Italy. We’d originally planned a last-minute getaway to Cortona, but the hotel we’d booked was unexpectedly closed, so I had to find somewhere else. I’m glad it worked out that way: Agriturismo I Pagliali completely won me over. It’s a peaceful, spacious spot, an easy five-minute drive from central Cortona. Our “room” was huge, with a separate bedroom, a living room and kitchen together, and its own bathroom. We hope to return and recommend it to anyone traveling to or near Cortona.
