Monastero San Silvestro

It's peaceful here, with the property facing the valley and mountains, so there's a great view wherever you stay. Breakfast isn't served, but that's easy to manage: Conad is about five minutes away by car. We picked up a mix of fresh local food there, like cheese, ham, sausages and vegetables.

There's a pool, a dog-walking area, grills and a ping pong table. Bring your own balls for ping pong. There's nowhere to eat on site, but you can cook in the kitchen or drive to nearby Cortona. We had everything we needed, and the staff were very friendly and answered all our questions. A great place to visit.

The estate was beautiful, and we were lucky enough to have it to ourselves that evening. Even though our booking was very last minute and the owner had gone for the evening, he came back to check us in and get us settled. When we couldn't work out the heating, he returned to help, and was friendly and helpful the whole time. The apartment was nicely furnished, and after just one night I felt I could easily have stayed much longer. I imagine the atmosphere is lovely in peak season.

Donato was absolutely wonderful and very helpful. We had a clean, quiet two-bedroom apartment with a nicely upgraded feel, a large bedroom and a large bathroom. The small kitchenette was handy, and the location was convenient for getting to many towns.
