Villa Primula by PosarelliVillas

I spent a week here for a vaccination and had a great time with my friends. No problems at all. Would recommend.

The garden is attractive and clearly looked after, and the pool has a useful shallow end for young children. We also found the owner’s welcome warm and generous, and the house is well placed for restaurants and attractions. But after two weeks in July 2023, neither of our two families could recommend Villa Primula. We’ve rented large houses at similar prices several times, and this was the first one that left us disappointed. The listing on PosarelliVillas doesn’t make clear that the property sits by a busy main road. Traffic carries on late into the night, and the street outside is busy too. The house looks lovely, but the furnishings and fittings are all dated. Furniture throughout is worn and sagging. The beds have cheap slatted bases and vintage headboards. The bathrooms need upkeep: leaking toilet cisterns, loose seats, a tiny clogged shower, and an old bathtub with no holder for a showerhead. Mosquitoes made the otherwise pleasant outdoor area hard to use. There were far more than we’d ever encountered, as if there were a breeding spot near the house. When we went farther away, we weren’t bothered by them. At the property, though, we couldn’t enjoy the garden, pool, outdoor meals, or evenings without getting bitten. The noise and mosquitoes meant we had to keep the bedroom windows shut. It was hot, so air conditioning would have helped, but we used it very sparingly. One unit wasn’t working properly, and we knew electricity would be charged after the stay. Even so, at checkout we were asked to pay a substantial extra amount. The recorded combined consumption was four times that of two large houses together. Our own house is bigger than this property. We suspect the old pool pump, which ran 24/7, and the outdoor irrigation system may have been responsible. After paying a substantial amount for two weeks in a house with a pool and air conditioning, we felt it was inappropriate to face a later electricity bill without being told what normal consumption should be. We weren’t really comfortable there.

We stayed for a full month and had a lovely time. There’s lots of room for guests or for working, and the garden is spacious with a refreshing pool. The setting is beautiful, and everything else is an easy walk away. We’ll definitely return!
