Bed Breakfast Cosenza

The bedroom, bathroom, and stairs all feel stuck in the 80s. It’s reached by a small street in the historic center that isn’t very well maintained.

We’ve travelled around Italy for years and stayed in plenty of B&Bs, but never in a place like this hovel. The room smelled of sewage. Breakfast, if you can call it that, was set up in the kitchen with just two packets of biscuits and three packets of jam. They looked untouched, but instead we went to a nearby, very clean bar and had a really good breakfast. A terrible experience. We’ll never go back.

Danilo, the owner, was very kind, and the room and bathroom were spotless. It’s a renovated apartment in a quiet spot that’s convenient for getting to the city center. There’s a paid parking lot nearby where you can leave your car. The breakfast was a shame, though. The coffee machine wasn’t working, and we couldn’t heat the baby’s milk.

The room was clean and the location is strategic, just a few steps from the city center. Those are the only reasons I’m giving it two stars. I feel bad for the owner, who was kind and helpful, but several things really bothered me during our one-night stay a few weeks ago, when we stopped on our way from the Marche to Sicily. I ended up showering in cold water because the small water heater had run out. Breakfast was decent, but there was no saucepan to heat the milk, so I had to use the cappuccino nozzle on the electric machine, which felt unhygienic. There was just one nearly empty carton of milk, already open, and I had no idea how long it had been there or who had opened it. I bought a fresh one myself at the nearby supermarket. The TV worked, but only had two channels, and they weren’t even familiar ones. The air conditioning was the only thing that worked properly, but it took me an hour to get it on because the remote was acting up, and I was freezing. A terrible experience for me. I wouldn’t repeat it and absolutely wouldn’t recommend it.
