The pool was lovely and perfect in the heat, even though it isn't heated. It was the one thing that saved this stay. There's no AC or fan, and the towels were horribly scratchy, so this barely earns three stars as a hotel. Some of dinner was great: the asparagus tart, traditional tajarin with ragu, and homemade nocciola ice cream. But the roast pork was horrible, dried out, and came with mushy asparagus. I'd go for the cheese plate.

The host really went out of his way to make us comfortable. He even got up early, before the scheduled time, to prepare breakfast so we could set off on our planned hike on time. Our room was clean and quiet, had everything we needed, and the beds were super comfortable. The restaurant serves great food, especially the incredible dishes made with local hazelnuts. One of the best places we've stayed in the Langhe region. Highly recommended!

If you're there, stay at the hotel above the restaurant. Breakfast comes with delicious torta di nocciole, hazelnut cake, one of many regional specialties. The restaurant is beautifully set in the small village, and in good weather you can eat on the terrace with breathtaking views. Maurizio is the place for authentic Piedmont cuisine, and especially worth a visit for the cheeses and extensive wine list.

Everything costs extra, even things like pool towels, and it's expensive. The restaurant was really disappointing: grey, boring food that was overcooked, and terrible desserts. Service was very slow and seemed uninterested.

We had Sunday lunch there and it was fabulous. The food was great, especially the veal with porcini.
