B&B Da Giorgia

A handy village B&B for getting to the mountains and lakes. The rooms were clean and adequate, and breakfast was generous, though it was all packaged food. They bring it to your room at the time you choose. The owners were friendly and helpful, and there's a nice bar, restaurant, and burger place across the street.

Our planned three days of relaxation turned into a nightmare. We'd seen the B&B on Booking.com for €294, but called to book directly and were quoted €300. The difference seemed small, so we didn't argue. The day before leaving, we called about check-in and were told we could arrive before 10:00 or after 6:00. Since we weren't sure we'd make it before 10:00, we said 6:00. At 12:30 we asked if we could come earlier because we had a 12-month-old baby, and they said 5:00 would work. At 5:00 nobody was there. After several calls and messages, the owner's parents arrived and showed us the room, saying they had had commitments and explaining the delay. They insisted payment had to be cash and that this had been said when we booked, which wasn't true. Somehow, an hour later, a card terminal appeared. The room was clean, but unbearably hot, with no fan in August. We couldn't use the kitchenette because the gas was off, and there wasn't even shower gel. The baby cried in distress through a hellish night because of the heat, so we left after one night. There's also a dog in the lobby that barks nonstop, even at night.

The room, toilet, and shower were very clean. Still, 100 euros including breakfast felt far too expensive outside peak season, especially since everything for breakfast came pre-packaged.

A great base thanks to its location near the Alps.
