La Fonte

The home-cooked dinner made our stay at La Fonte especially memorable. We had such a great time!

We were even treated to freshly baked pizza on our first night, and it was fantastic. The family is warm and welcoming while still giving you privacy, and there’s a real sense of trust around the rental and its furnishings. They also offer local homemade products, including a white wine I’d definitely recommend. La Fonte sits in a gorgeous spot with sweeping Tuscan hill views, away from the bustle. It’s a handy base for Florence and the Chianti wine region. The one small thing I’d change is the shower, a fixed screen would work better than a curtain. Still, an easy five stars from me.

The owner kept checking that everything was to our liking, and the whole family made us feel at home. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed. There’s a supermarket less than a 10-minute drive away, with restaurants nearby too. We took the owner’s suggestion to catch the train from Dicomano to Florence, and it was fantastic. The house and setting were beautiful, and we loved the pool. We stayed four nights and wished we’d booked more. We’d happily return for another relaxing break.

The owners are a helpful, friendly family, and the property has a lovely Tuscan feel throughout. It’s peaceful, with a children’s swing and seesaw on the grounds. Dicomano is only a few minutes away by car for restaurants, shops, and supermarkets. Our apartment had everything we needed to cook for ourselves, and the whole estate was well cared for. The pool overlooking the valley was a highlight, as was the view. It felt like being close to heaven. Thanks for such a perfect holiday!
