Ca' del Barba

We loved the quiet setting in a small village, and Domaso has a few restaurants and cafes, plus ferries for exploring more of Como. Our hosts were fantastic, and their English was much better than our Italian, which we really appreciated. The walk up from town is steep, winding, and on rough ground. It's quite a workout and could be a problem if you have mobility concerns. A car is easier, though the trip still takes about 10 minutes. The apartment is on the first floor, all to yourselves. It has a roomy bedroom with lots of storage, a nice bathroom with a huge shower and good vanity space, and a kitchen joined to a small living area. Even the loo has an incredible view. The terrace is compact but fits a table and four chairs, with a BBQ and two loungers. Down in the garden there are more loungers and a hammock, all facing the lake. From the balcony you can see across the lake in both directions, as well as up and down it. The property has been recently refurbished to a very good standard, with quality fittings and appliances, and it was very clean. Basics for the dishwasher and washing machine were provided.

The hosts were very kind, and the house is lovely in a superb spot. Just be aware that without a car there's a lot of uphill walking to reach it, so it may wear you out if you get tired easily.

We couldn't find anything negative about this wonderful place. The balcony view is stunning, there are outdoor seating spots, and parking is available in the courtyard. The house has everything you need, and the welcoming hosts are ready to help with anything. I hope we can stay again if we're back in the area.
