Nuraghe Arvu

The place is peaceful, and our room was clean and comfortable. The pool and restaurant are beautiful, and receptionist Davide was warm and helpful. We really enjoyed staying here.

The hotel itself is beautiful, with spacious, thoughtfully designed common areas and traditional, comfortable rooms. But some details didn’t meet what I’d expect of a 3 or 4 star place. The front desk was nearly always empty and didn’t feel very service-minded, perhaps because they were short staffed. There’s gear to borrow, like snorkels, a cooler, and an umbrella, but swapping a pool or beach towel costs 3 euros, which seemed unusual. There was no iron, the old fashioned hairdryer was nearly useless, and the rooms had no cups, tea, coffee, or local information, with very few toiletries. Breakfast was basic, with limited variety and no hot vegetarian choices. With some improvements, this could be a truly luxurious stay in Cala Gonone.

The rooms are on the small side, but they had what we needed and the views were breathtaking. Breakfast was hearty and healthy, and the staff could not have been more helpful. Debora and Diletta in particular used their local knowledge to coordinate with businesses so our trips and meals went smoothly. Their food recommendations were spot on, and every meal they guided us to was a treat. The location is strongly recommended, the rooms are decent, and the staff make this hotel a jewel of the region.

The pools and location were lovely, and the staff were caring, welcoming, and hospitable. We only had half board, and breakfast was good. There is a very noisy youth campground nearby that disrupts the peace for three months of the summer, through September. You can hear it outside the hotel, but indoors it stays calm.
