Spluga Sosta & Hotel

The breakfast was one of the best. Rooms were spacious, bright, and clean, and the bathroom was nice too. A very nice hotel, which I’d recommend for visiting the lakes or heading to Switzerland.

The restaurant had very limited dinner options, and the staff’s English was limited too. The room was quiet and a very decent size, with an extra-large, really comfortable bed. Everything was clean, breakfast was very good, and the location was good enough for getting around Lake Como.

My wife became ill on May 21, and no one was available at reception to help. We called while the phone rang, but nobody answered, so we had to find a nearby clinic online and drive there ourselves. There was no English information in the room about breakfast or the other facilities, and my complaint email never got a response. There also wasn’t any English-speaking staff during our stay, so we had to use Google Translate every day. When I asked to change rooms, I was told it couldn’t be done, and the problems weren’t fixed. We couldn’t use our laptops because the plugs were different, even though we came from the Netherlands, a regular European country, so we had to buy a new socket. A bar staff member said rooms were cleaned between 7 and 10 AM. We got up at 9 and had breakfast at 9.30, and one day our room wasn’t cleaned at all. Never again!

The staff were very polite, and it’s a nice hotel. But the air-conditioning was bad, just blowing warm air, which you don’t need when it’s 32 degrees outside. Breakfast was basic, and I didn’t love it.
