I was cycling down from Cividale on my way to Trieste and stopped for lunch. Even though the kitchen was close to shutting, the waiters and waitresses were absolutely formidable. The pasta Al busara was outstanding, much better than what you find at overpriced Triestine restaurants. A real gem, highly recommended. In London, this would be a city favorite.

We got there at 8pm tonight and were seated without any fuss. The staff were friendly and efficient, the food was marvelous, and the prices were reasonable. It's the best meal I've had since arriving in Duino. I'm quite pleased we came, and we've already booked a table for tomorrow! 👍

If you're not Italian, don't expect service from the restaurant staff. We asked for an English menu, and after that they stopped serving us, even though we tried several times to get their attention. We waited 40 minutes, then had to leave. Italian guests who arrived 20 minutes after us were served while we waited. Don't waste your time here.

The waiter spoke English and was quite prompt, and I enjoyed the blue mussels as an aperitif. They have a wide seafood selection, though prices are rather high, especially the beer. Given that this was the only place open to eat in Duino during the winter holidays, when tourists had no other options, our experience was quite good.

I ordered the cold seafood platter, but the shrimp were from a can. At a seafood restaurant, there was nothing fresh on the plate. Honestly, my dog ate some of it.
