The main drawback in the Val Cellina villages is how few basic shops there are, especially grocery stores. I hope those responsible will work on improving that, since it could encourage more tourism. We’ve stayed at Casa Lesca in Cimolais twice now, and both visits were comfortable. The place was clean and had everything we needed, with easy access to both challenging hikes and gentler walks in the greenery. Nearby places to eat serve excellent local traditional food.
Waking up there changed our minds completely. We’d arrived in the dark and hadn’t been able to take it all in, but by morning we saw what a fairytale place it was. The absolute quiet was wonderful, and it’s somewhere I’d gladly return to.
The service was friendly and efficient, and the little village of Casso had a warm, welcoming feel with a pleasantly quaint atmosphere. I stayed in one of the renovated houses that make up the Albergo Diffuso.
Stunning place, just be ready for a challenging climb.
