La Brunelde

The home is full of art and striking details, giving it a step-back-in-time feel while still having modern amenities. It's a beautiful historic property, with large, comfortable rooms and bathrooms, plus plenty of shared space for a family group. The owners live next door and can give a great tour and explain the history. Cristina was such a lovely, friendly host and made us feel right at home. It's centrally located for visiting local towns and beaches, or for a day trip to Austria or Slovenia, as we did.

The guided tour with the owners brings every room to life, from the frescoes and exposed beams to original furnishings that carry more than 800 years of history. The kitchen is especially evocative, with its working 16th-century rotisserie, as is the study where the family's historical archive is kept. Outside, a park surrounds the house and makes a lovely place to relax. Casaforte La Brunelde is an authentic historic gem in Fagagna, with a wonderfully preserved atmosphere that feels like stepping back in time. An unforgettable visit for anyone interested in history, art or architecture. I highly recommend discovering this charming corner of Friuli, and I'll definitely return!
