Hotel Del Levante

We'd happily stay here again. Our room was comfortable, quiet, clean, well equipped, and had a lovely water view. The hotel sits beside a sandy beach on the Adriatic and has its own beach club, with plenty of umbrellas and sun beds. Staff were pleasant and helpful, and parking, breakfast, and internet had no extra charge. The hotel restaurant was excellent, and we enjoyed the delicious dinner included in the hotel's dinner package.

The sea view from our room was beautiful, and the cleaning and parking staff were consistently polite and cheerful. Those were the bright spots in our week at Hotel del Levante. Breakfast was a letdown. There was no hot food, items were seldom replenished, and finding a seat was often difficult, despite plenty of staff around. The waitstaff came across as rude, making the dining room feel unwelcoming. One morning a waitress tossed something onto our table before we'd even sat down. It was shocking and unprofessional. The breakfast felt below even a two-star standard. For a hotel advertised as four stars, the experience fell short. I'd rate it three stars at most, mainly because of the poor service and disappointing breakfast.

My room was spotless and had a great view. It was small by American standards, but the staff I met were all amazing.

The location by the beach was what sold us: direct access, free sunbeds and parasols, plus parking at the hotel. We had double rooms with balconies and liked the size. The cleaning ladies deserve credit for doing a quick, good job, and although the complex is older, it's kept in good shape. Inside the rooms, though, you could hear everything from the neighbours, even their alarm clock and lights switching on and off. WiFi was unsecured and very unreliable, and the TV was smaller than my work monitor. Beach towels cost €5 each, which seems a lot at a beach hotel. The sustainability claims also rang hollow: our towels were changed even though we hadn't left them on the floor, and housekeeping left the AC running all day while we were out. The restaurant was a complete miss. It doesn't feel right for a four-star hotel. Breakfast was basic, with little choice of cereal or sandwiches and no unsweetened alternatives. The coffee and fresh fruit were the only good parts. We tried lunch and dinner too, then felt glad we'd only booked breakfast. The food lacked flavor, and serving industrially made pasta as the chef's recommendation at those prices was hard to accept. When we asked about the wine, nobody answered; they just brought us two glasses of red we didn't like, without letting us taste it first. That's not good service. Our car mirror was damaged in the parking area, though I don't blame the hotel. Overall, it wasn't worth the money, and I was surprised to see such good reviews for it across platforms.
