Hotel La Sorgente

The room was spacious enough, clean, and looked out over the sea and pool. Breakfast had lots of options, and dinner was delicious, with attentive dining staff. There's no beach, but you can get down to the sea by ladder. Parking on site is free, and the local fisherman's village is just a four-minute walk away. We stayed two nights at this lovely hotel. I had mixed up the booking dates, but the reception staff kindly agreed to correct them. I'd recommend staying here.

This does not feel like a four-star hotel. The rooms are dated, breakfast was mediocre, and the WiFi was so slow I gave up and used my own connection. The older male concierge had a strange manner. On our first night I lost my key card and asked him for a replacement. He looked at me as if nobody had ever lost one before, then lectured me that this was the last key and I'd have to pay if I lost it too. I told him several times I understood the policy. At checkout, they charged me €10 for the lost key anyway. Ridiculous. I'd look elsewhere.

The staff were great, and the hotel was clean. It was our first time in Puglia. The rooms were a little cramped, with no space for two suitcases, and the shower cubicle was absurdly small. It took us a couple of tries to shower without bumping the doors and switching off the water every time we moved. The town is tiny. There are plenty of places to eat if you like fish and seafood, but not much else. I'd book restaurants on weekends, when lots of locals go. You'll really need a car, since transport is limited, although a taxi to Ostuni was reasonably priced.

I'm in the middle of a two-night stay at Hotel La Sorgente, with tonight being night two. This basic, unfriendly hotel feels mediocre and nowhere near four-star quality. The reception staff were indifferent and unwelcoming, and the place has no atmosphere. On arrival I was told I couldn't use the car park until after 5 pm, and parking is restricted. The rooms are basic, with poor AC, slow WiFi, and disposable plastic cups. There's no kettle or coffee setup. Be careful opening the door, too: the handle is too close to the frame and could injure your fingers. Breakfast is basic, served in tiny cereal bowls. The 10 am checkout is unacceptable to me. Noon is the worldwide industry norm, and 11 is acceptable. I raised this with reception because my flight was late in the evening, and reluctantly asked to hire the room for a few extra hours to avoid a very long day. Rates for this were listed, but I was told the room wasn't available, even though websites showed plenty of vacancies. Appalling service. Go elsewhere.
